There are rare cases when an individual ear infection just seems not to be responding to antibiotics. The standard treatment for mastoiditis is to do a mastoidectomy and put a tube in, usually with that aggressive flushing technique. Dr. Bahman: If patients aren't getting better, I want them back and I wants them back now.
