What Do You Learn From the Study on Parenting Interventions?
The intervention was effective if not only prevented depressive symptoms in mom, but it also improved child development. In Uganda, we actually trained community health workers peers of the same community to deliver this group intervention. The non-specialist provider that was delivering the intervention was indeed a peer from the same community. We don't just parachute ourselves in and deliver whichever intervention we wish. It's really about partnering with local communities to ensure that one, we are welcomed individuals, but also adapting our approaches to ensure that what we are offering is suitable for that context.
