What Makes a Good Active Strategy?
Turnover rate in and of itself doesn't mean a whole lot. I think it's really taking the turnover raght in placing it into the broader context of the strategy to understand why a manager trades so infrequently, that's what really can yield some insight into how it is they think about markets and opportunities. And i'm not saying that a low turnover manager or manager who trades infrequently exemplifies those qualities,. but there's a greater likelihood that you're going to find some of those traits in them.
