Introduction

The United States sees more tornadoes than any other place in the world. The states that make up tornado alley are the most prone to this weather activity. Warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico, drier from deserts of the southwest and colder from the Rocky Mountains and Canada combine to create the perfect conditions for making severe thunderstorms. In 2022, Illinois recorded 34 tornadoes, which fortunately did not result in any deaths.
