Is There Any Promise to the Idea of Disintermediation?

I'm wondering if to not see in there's like any promise to the idea of disintermediation. I mean, one could actually quibble with that in itself and that there are intermediaries within the technology itself. So my challenge to you is name something good that has come from all of this.
