I think Dam Analogy was your first book. And I love analogies. What is the Dam Analogy about?
Speaker 1
Yeah, first of all, Laura, thanks for having me. It's great to be here. The Dam Analogy is an idea that came to me several years ago, actually, while I was riding my bike across Red Rock Dam. That's a local lake and dam near my house. I was riding my bike across it and I heard, we are the dam. And I thought, what, I have some low blood sugar. Did I not sleep well? What's going on here? But really, as I've unpacked it over time and used it in front of groups and to help people, what I've really understood is we are like a dam. So a dam has a lake on one side, a river on another side, or some sort of an outlet on the other side. We're pretty good at getting our stuff done, the outputs. All we're doing is controlling the flow of energy that goes through us, like a dam controls water that flows through us. We're good at the output side. We find a way to get our stuff done, come heck or high water sometimes.

Right.
