Most of us are invested in the stock market through 401Ks and mutual funds. But even if you've had $2,000 invested in an individual stock for three years or more, you have the right to vote and propose a resolution. Those aren't legally binding, but it would be a bad look for a company to overlook a resolution that gets a 20% vote in favor.
