Lennon argues that capitalism escaped its three laws of motion through overseas imperialism. Monopolies, which include cartel's, the formation of trusts and other forms of collusion between big businesses, are formed out of the logic of capitalist competition,. The demand increase profits beat competitors and dominate the markets of their respective industries. It is in the deepest economic interest of businesses to own and control asmuch of the market and as much of the production as possible. This deep seated economic interest highly incentivizes big businesses in certain industries to collude with or merge with other big businesses in that industry.
