'Sir Gawaine and the Green Knight'
The one really major landmark arthurian work from the 13 hundreds is sir gawaine and the green knight. It is an epic poem of two thousand 530 lines written in late middle english. We don't know who wrote it, but it seems very likely that it was a monk in one of the monasteries in what was then a fairly remote corner of england.
