What You Can Deduct From Your State and Local Taxes
Under current legislation, you can only deduct up to $10,000 in aggregate of state and local taxes. So many people don't really hit that unless you have unusually large medical expenses. The taxable income is what you run through the federal marginal tax brackets. Currently, there are one to the six tax brackets for federal taxation.
