The Evolution of Social Recognition of Contributions to the Common Good
Social valuations of various kinds of contributions change and sometimes change over a period of years or a few decades. Since the pandemic, I think there's been a much greater appreciation of the importance of the contributions made by people we are now calling essential workers. And I would say that this could be an opening for a broader public debate about how to reconfigure the economy as we emerge from the pandemic.
