Kathleen Carrico is the inventor of mRNA vaccines. As an undergraduate in Hungary, she became interested in how they could be used. She then moved to the USA and tried to get funding for her work. But it never really worked so she ran into another immunologist called Drew Weissmann. They started talking about their work over a photocopier that I used to actually share in the science department.
