During inhalation, also called inspiration, there are a number of very fast physiological changes. The more that you're inhaling relative to exhaling in terms of duration, the more that your brain is in this focused mode and this mode of being able to access and retrieve information better. It turns out that when you are inhaling air, you're actually less able, or I should say, less efficient at generating voluntary movements.
