Nain Shui had been labelled a fugitive, and authorities in both New Zealand and the United States were on a learn. A judge ordered that Shao Ping be given leave to apply for a parenting order. The government paid approximately $10,000 New Zealand dollars in legal fees for Shao Ping to gain custody of Chen Shun.
