Scientists are sending yeast strains into space to see how they cope with cosmic radiation. One strain lacks the ability to fix critical lesions in tumor tissue, which is what kills cancer patients. The other has a repair system called homologous recombination that allows them to fix double stram brakes and not make mistakes.
