Tim Keller's first church gig out of college was as the pastor of West Hopewill Presbyterian Church, a small blue collar church in a tired factory town. John: The effect of preaching 1500 sermons in nine years is going to shape someone. In 1989, when Tim and Kathy Keller arrived in New York City, Kathy called it the big, bad whore of Babylon. He came here on what at the time seemed close to a theological suicide mission to create a strictly conservative Christian church in the heart of Sodom. His love of the city is weird to some people - that has been one of the criticisms of Keller from Anglicans there.
