12 years ago i had absolutely no clue about product management to the level where i am today. microsoft's mission was how do we get a computer on every desk and unlike a lot of companies they actually achieved that. The question was like where else should computing go within the home and the living room was the place. xbox was originally formed out of their web tv efforts and so microsoft tried to address also with xboxlike this digital lifestyle initiatives.
