How Much of the Text of Gilgamesh Is Still Missing?

The cuneiform writing system is difficult and needs a long apprenticeship to understand. Gilgamesh had not been edited in over 70 years so when Andrew's edition appeared it contained more than double the material than the previous edition from the 1930s. In his edition that appeared in 2003 Andrew calculated that we have recovered around two thirds of the canonical version there is 2,400 lines of the original estimated 3,000 lines.
