In the 90s and early 2000s, I don't think trans people believe they could actually change sex. But by 2010 they sure did, like they surely did, and that was shocking to me. The other thing that changed between the late 90s and 2010 is that you could no longer say tranny - it's a terrible word. Gender critical gender criticals have supported the don't say gay legislation in Florida and have specifically misrepresented what that legislation does.
