The Importance of a Subjective Exam in Primary Care
The information that you get from a patient is best taken by the person who's making the decisions. You can't take a physician and have him take 15 minutes to go through a comprehensive screening question, like question and answer session with a patient because they'll never be able to make that practice economically viable. A physical therapy note in our system is like five pages long. How much of that is actually useful information to the diagnosis and management of the treatment? Virtually not. And so it's more out of economic viability to keep the practice going than anything else.
