The Impact of Slavery Investments on the Industrial Revolution

Without the income from slavery, can we say how much poorer Britain would have been by the 1830s when it was abolished? We find substantial aggregate and distributional consequences of access to slavery investments. The locations with the greatest level of participation in slavery investment experienced an increase in total income of more than 40%. It looks as if it's particularly the north of England that does best out of this.
