What Kind of Relationship Do You Want?
The best answer when someone asks you what you want in this case according to Lacan is, I don't know. It can also be the first step towards presenting your partner or your patient with some signifier of the fact that you are just as split and as incomplete as they are. The subject that is split never tires in the field of fantasy of trying to guess what it is other people want. And the worst thing you can do for a subject using straight answer is show them a difference between the two graph of desire.
