What Is the Cause of My Desire?

The question of why is a really important one here. Much different from the question of what. And this really is fundamental to how desire works. The cause of my desire is lack. I'm missing something. Maybe even just the experience of missing is what causes desire. But that lack is symbolized by the S with a dash through it. That is a barred subject a lacking subject. Which is why I think Hunter's question is great because it puts us on the path. Of recognition. Self recognition. Why am I this way? Okay. Did Lacan ever talk about his own like self reflexivity and his theories like his own lack perhaps. Or I think what we call shadow.
