The Debate About SAS Doctors in General Practice
The BMAs GP committee is not in favor of allowing speciality and associate specialist doctors, SAS doctors to come into the general practice workforce. They published a draft position paper ahead of the LMCs conference that raised concerns on a number of points around this. For me, it felt very much as if there was a clear consensus in the room against letting SAS doctors come into general practice. If it's hospital work being delivered in local areas, practices don't have room to host that work and it should really be hospitals that organize it says RCGP Nick Boulden.
