There is this idea in Renaissance thought and it's not just a Castiglione it's more broadly an imagery and rhetoric around the true parentage of the aristocrat of the spirit. The language that ends up being used about them in Poggiabra Chilini and others is this idea that they are the unmediated child of fortune. They have this kind of bastard spiritual bastard quality where their relationship with God is unmediated and direct.
