Roxanne Jones: I worry that sometimes we do the same thing. When my mam lost her son, my brother died when he was 12 and i was 16,. She says there were a lot of well intending people who wanted to comfort her but what they said to her was more hurtful than comforting. The most profound readings of job, i believe, recognize that the poem is really not just about suffering or retribution; it's about how rigid orthodoxies can destroy our relationships with others.
