There were simply no women i my age who got any ttraction for being painters. Women n my generation got traction by being on the outskirts of the then very new and exciting market, following closely to ronald ragin's reign. The people who were taking a critical doing sort of critical work in rela ship to the culture and representation. Us painters called them the photo girls. And what i'm getting at here is it was the content of that work that, weirdly, in my head, connected what these women had done painting in the seventies. So thor history paintings came from a combination of those seventis women and what they'd done with the history of
