The Neuronal Binding Process in Early Learning
Researchers asked participants to practise typing numbers on a number pad. They were given 36 ten second blocks of time, with a break between each practice block. Theory is that during pauses or rests in our practice, the brain reactivates neural circuits activated when physically performing the skill - only much faster. Researchers found this was all happening in the background, and isn't related to imagery or mental practice.
