The marxis tradition is that it's got this teleological conception of history. So the reason, aside from ideological interests, that marks this er easy to criticize for the majority of the academy is that they actually try to say something about the nature of reality. And being totally uninterested in the material conditions in which you live creates a situation in which you have to re invent the weel.
