Sasha Meleagrou: The book was published in the spring of 2021, a little over five years after Obergefell versus Hodges legalized same-sex marriage across the United States. What prompted you to write this truly encyclopedic account of the mobilization for and against same- sex marriage? She says she had no idea where it'd come from or how it emerged as the major culture war conflict. "I decided I would sort of, perhaps a big grandiosely try to write a book that made sense of the whole arc of this political and legal conflict"
