Getting Out of the Trap of Not Being Good Enough
Buddhism teaches that you do have the resources that you require to become what you wish to become so when we talk about this future self-incurrent self I don't want people to internalize that as the current knee isn't good enough. That's not a particularly constructive road for self-efficacy and long-term success. The idea of a robust goal hierarchy with equifinality and multi-fennality is really important. And there's evidence indicating that approach focused goals inherently frame these changes in a more positive light which is a good thing.
In preparation for the new year (and the resolutions that come with it), we’re replaying Episode 71, which is all about goal setting and behavior change.
In this episode from the SBSPOD archive, Eric and Greg have a long, evidence-based conversation about the research on setting effective goals and successfully changing health behaviors. The discussion yields several evidence-based tips for setting better goals and maximally supporting your ability to achieve them.
