Did the Left Abandon Revolution?

The left abandoned revolution in part because of the excesses, the oppression, the carnage that the revolutionary project left behind. I'm wondering, how do we disentangle what was noble about it from the monstrosity? And my answer is that these radically different and intimately opposed dimensions of communism belong to the history of revolutions, air, and are not separable.
