"I always feel like a gentle observer of life that's flowing by and just being a part of it, almost like dangling in the breeze or something like that," he says. "It can be easy to conceptualize some of the ideas around consciousness and inner life and so forth, but to have them sink into kind of the soil of your mind where you become a participant in those things is a different story."
