The Democracy Principle in the States

The democracy principle is really a shorthand that mirriaman i use to describe the commitment contained in all 50 state constitutions to democracy, which is ruled by the people. In the states, we see a real commitment t majority rule that, again, is not the same as the federal constitution's channels for political engagement. And this, i think, marks state constitutions as a body as quite distinct from the federal constitution and composes a distinct version of american constitutionalism in this state.
