I suspect that if we get to a world where you can have a delicious hamburger that's actually made a meat but no animals were harmed in the process, that would cause a massive turning point in society. It's legal already in Singapore and it's about to be marketed in the US. My understanding is still going to take a number of years to get a cost competitive. But on the plus side, these technology curves tend to be exponentially falling prices so hopefully it'll get there not too long.
