How to Butcher an Elk in the Backcountry
Kell, Mike, Pat and Luke finally got an elk after four years of trying. They had to butcher the animal and haul it out of the backcountry on their backs all before the meat began to spoil. Breaking down the animal alone took them nine full hours. It took them two trips each, or about 4.5 miles of hiking back and forth,. The next morning they decided to carry out everything in a single push.
