The Charm of Free Will
The theory that's been refuted a hundred times is charming to people because of the very fact that it has been refuted. It still endures as this intuitive belief. And on the other hand, there's always an inexhaustible mind of evidence and arguments against the idea. So after that short aphorism, we'll move on to number 19, where Nietzsche writes quote, philosophers are accustomed to speak of the will as if it were the best known thing in the world.
