"I think the more we've done Shakespeare over the years, the more I've learned to appreciate or the less patience I've had with him," he says. "He's made to be like that over the top." He doesn't love updated versions of his plays such as Hamlet and Macbeth where people are dressed in Elizabethan clothes. But it can be done pretty well if you know what you're getting yourself into.
