"The mission of this book is to make the design process potentially to be like completely understood through mathematical abstraction," he says. "So if there's a kettle and I can imagine 21 separate things that could be wrong with it there is there's a set of two to the 21 possible kettles only one of which will be right." 'There's no prima facie reason to suspect that people might intuitively be able to connect some of those variables to each other in a way that would simplify the problem quite a lot,' adds author.
