Cherokees and the Trail of Tears
In 18 38, the us Government forced the cherokee to mark 12 hundred miles from their lands in the southeast united states to designated indian territory. Along the way, thousands died of disease and starvation. And alongside them on this ny enslaved black people. By the early nineteenth century, cherokees are putting many of these folks forward as spokespeople for the community.
