The Imposition of a Death Penalty
Only the recognized leaders had authority to declare a death sentence. Milgrim suggests that becoming lifelong sanctuary servants was a way in which a lesser, but acceptable form of he was imposed. Israel's practice of the tide could be seen as a continuation of the vow of their forefather, jacob. And laws concerning the paying and the redeeming of tithes ends this chapter.
