Bob Greene: You don't meditate for no reason at all. I'll tell you, thereare people who come pretty damned close to saying it if you haven the implications of the way they're talking about it. The only task of the meditator is to be aware of the object that's arising moment-to-moment. That's the practice. It's not to have an absence of distraction. It's, if there's distraction, there, to know that distraction is present. Because it's the knowing thate the recognition that there's an awareness knowing the distraction that's being developed.
