The only task of the meditator is to be aware of the object that's arising moment-to-moment. That's the practice. It's not to have an absence of distraction. It's, if there's distraction, there, to know that distraction is present. Because it's the knowing thate the recognition that there's an awareness knowing the distraction that's being developed.
