The 29th division lost more soldiers in the battle of St. Lo than they did on Omaha Beach. John Glover-Johns was awarded three silver stars, two bronze stars and a purple heart. By the end of the war, John's unit had lost 2,400 men casualties. He goes to VMI as the ROTC leader eventually becomes the VMI commandant.
