Do the Numbers Vary From Place to Place?
In general, what we observe is that about nine % of the documents survived. That estimate is, in fact, in line with what book historians have found in recent times already. What we saw is that for the number of works, or the actual stories that survive there, we see very big differences across the languages that we observed. The sur val rate for middle dutch is very similar to that for middle french, middle english and old english. Their survival ratio was really small, surprisingly small even. And then we saw a pretty high survival of the ratio for german. And also to island literature, namely iceland and ireland. And that was a pretty interesting difference there. Yes
