How to Model Sequential Data Types in a Distributed Fashion

Normally you program with a sequential data type. You can't actually make a replicated version that converges that matches the semantics of a sequential set. So now building applications gets really, really hard when things like this kind of standard in our way and we say, okay, well, how do I know what the update will be?
