The Limits of Neoliberalism

In the late 70s, folk art lectures on neoliberalism that had drawn on Nobel laureate Gary Becker's work on human capital and public choice theory. The division of subjectivity Foucault is describing here is implicit in many of the policies that would later define neoliberalism. At the same time, this view of the subject assumes that both individual and aggregate well being will be maximized if individuals are allowed to choose freely liberated from high taxes and government interference.
