Roberta Flack's 1972 hit I saw your face was licensed by Clint Eastwood for his directorial debut, Play Misty for Me. It spent six weeks at number one on the Hot 100, the most of any song in 1972. That gave Flack the year end title over Gilbert O'Sullivan's Alone Again Naturally and even Don McLean's American Pie.
