Emily Dickinson wrote to Thomas Wentworth Higginson in 1862. He was a well-educated critic and an accomplished author who wrote over 20 books. In addition to his anti-slavery sentiment, he was a vocal advocate for women's autonomy and their right to vote. On April 15, 1862, Emily works up the courage to send Higginson a letter.
