The End of the World

Some of ramban's students believe that the world was created anew and destroyed again every seven thousand years. The story of genesis chapter one played out on a cosmic scale in an ongoing cycle, creation, then destruction. Each cycle of destruction and rebirth gives us an opportunity to ponder yet another aspect of the divine. We don't have to wait for the world to end to do that. Just rememer that even in the most terrifying moments of absence and chaos, there is an invitation to reach out and be borne again.
