I was very self motivated in the sense that I wanted to do a good job. But kind of at every turn, I reached out to grab our sort of quote unquote metrics of success and just missed. And for a long time it actually really puzzled some of my teachers, especially in high school because all this effort was there. Like I very much wanted to be the teachers pet and the reliable one and the one who was doing okay at everything but the results weren't there.
